Cleaning campaign collects over 800kg of waste

Some 810 kilogrammes of waste was collected yesterday during a cleaning campaign organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE) through Department of Administration and Services in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Estate Management.

The cleaning campaign was conducted along Mukim Lumapas and Mukim Sungai Kebun roads.

The campaign aimed to support the Executive Committee on Cleanliness Issues’ (JIIK) initiative to keep the Sultanate clean and free from pollution, while increasing awareness among the public on the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.

The campaign focused on several roads that are divided into eight zones in Mukim Lumapas: Kampong Sungai Asam, Kampong Lumapas ‘A’, Kampong Lupak Luas and Bukit Saeh Recreational Park. In Mukim Sungai Kebun, among the areas covered were Kampong Sungai Kebun, Kampong Setia ‘A’, Kampong Setia ‘B’ and Kampong Sungai Siamas.

Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin officiated the event.

Legislative Council members, Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, deputy and acting deputy permanent secretaries at the MoE as well as 300 personnel from the ministry also participated in the campaign. – Rokiah Mahmud
