Cleaning campaign collects over 1,000kg of rubbish

A total of 1,000.1 kilogrammes of rubbish was collected in Kampong Tamoi yesterday during the National Cleaning Campaign 2024, organised by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), along with its departments and enforcement agencies.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha joined over 300 participants in the campaign.

Among the participants were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Amran bin Haji Maidin, who is also Penghulu of Mukim Lumapas, alongside the permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretary, acting deputy permanent secretary at the MTIC, acting Brunei-Muara District officer, directors, and officials.

Villagers and youth from Kampong Tamoi also participated.

The campaign aimed to support the efforts of the Executive Committee on Cleanliness Issues (JIIK) by raising public awareness on the importance of cleanliness and environmental preservation.

It also sought to instill a sense of responsibility among village residents and the public to maintain a clean and pollution-free environment.

The event additionally aimed to foster closer ties and unity between personnel from the MTIC and the villagers, further strengthening community bonds. – James Kon
