It is crucial that civil servants are equipped with knowledge and skills required to carry out their duties effectively, said Permanent Secretary (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Ajman bin Haji Meludin.

He was speaking as the guest of honour at the launching of the Civil Service Institute’s (IPA) Programme Directory for the 2024-2025 financial year at IPA’s Customer Day at its premises yesterday.

He added that it falls under “the role of the Stakeholder Liaison Committee (SLC) and the Human Resource Development Ambassador (HRDA) in representing government agencies” to help the IPA curate these programmes for civil servants and that it is important to “take into account the views, needs and aspiration of civil service’s customers” while working towards national development.

He urged the IPA to “continue to strive to improve service quality, provide better facilities and ensure customers feel valued and prioritised, including improvement in the delivery of feedback, improvement efficiency, and the development of appropriate learning programmes”.

The directory comprised 90 development programmes for civil servants, the private sector and government-linked companies, ranging from competency-based planning to signature and flagship programmes such as leadership, administration, innovation, communications, management, human resources and customer services.

IPA Director Dr Hajah Noor Maya binti Haji Mohamad Salleh in her welcoming speech shared, “31 per cent of the programmes are of Innovation and ICT. A total of 84 per cent of programmes are available for Division I to III officers, while 30 per cent are for Division IV and V personnel. Subsequently, a total of six programmes with certification will also be offered.”
