Royston Liaw Ding Yuan has been exposed to Islam since a young age. While pursuing his studies in New Zealand and living with Muslim friends, he got to learn in depth about the religion.
A dentist at the Rimba clinic, Liaw finally opened up his heart and made the important decision in his life by beginning his journey as a new Muslim following the recitation of the Syahadah on Friday.
“I really like the togetherness and family vibes of the religion, and also how it helps us to be a better person. I have second cousins who are Muslim. Since I am still new, my plan is to slowly absorb and learn about the ways and lifestyles of the religion and to live life as a better Muslim and a better person.”
The conversion ceremony took place at a house in Kampong Meragang, conducted by officers from the Dakwah Development Division of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).
Following his recitation of the Syahadah guided by PDI officers, the 28-year-old is now known as Muhammad Rayyan Roy Liaw bin Abdullah. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to Muhammad Rayyan followed by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban and Doa Selamat.
