The Ministry of Religious Affairs received 13 books in six sets from the Embassy of People’s Republic of China in the country yesterday.
The books cover cultural, science, landscape and historical aspects in China. Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the country Xiao Jianguo presented the books to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim. The books were then handed over to Islamic Legal Unit, Islamic Dakwah Centre, Mosque Affairs Department, Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) and Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic Boys secondary school. The Ambassador said over the past four years, the Embassy has donated nearly 2,000 books to 13 schools in Brunei including primary schools, secondary schools and universities as well as cultural organisations, which set up platforms for Bruneian friends, especially the young people, to learn about China.
This year, with the assistance and recommendation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, they donated 6 sets of books to 6 religious organisations, covering the fields of Chinese culture and art, science and technology, traditional medicine, as well as the development of Islam and Muslim culture in China, and so on. They believe that these books will not only help Bruneian friends to understand the past, present and future of China, but also deepen their understanding of the history of Islam and Muslim culture in China.
