She also said there are many beautiful Hari Raya-themed decorations at the malls and car showrooms. “I love to take photos of these beautiful sets, which include traditional-style houses and lights that resemble ketupat,” she said.

Meanwhile Syifa Ali, 10, said, “I am looking forward to meeting my relatives, cousins, school friends whom I seldom meet. Hari Raya is an occassion to meet and to seek forgiveness.”

Syifa added, “I also took advantage of the school holiday to watch the Super Mario Bros movie at the cineplex.”

In addition, it is customary for children to seek blessings from elders, who often give them money in the form of green packets.
