The Syariah Courts welcomed Sabah Chief Syarie Judge Ahadin bin Arinen, Syariah Court of Appeal Judge for Perak Mohamad Shakir bin Haji Abdul Hamid and representatives from the Malaysia Syariah Justice Department and the Sabah Syariah Justice Department on Monday at the Supreme Court and Syariah Courts Building.
Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar hosted the delegation, who were welcomed by members of Brunei’s Syariah judiciary, including Syariah Court of Appeal judges Dato Seri Setia Haji Tassim bin Haji Akim, Dato Seri Setia Haji Md Zaimi bin Haji Talip and Dato Seri Setia Haji Johar bin Haji Muhamad.
They were joined by Syariah High Court judges Haji Hassan bin Haji Metali and Haji Muhammad Bahrin bin Haji Alias, as well as Acting Syariah Court of Appeal Chief Registrar Pengiran Mohammaddin bin Pengiran Haji Aliakbar.
During the visit, the two parties engaged in bilateral discussions aimed at sharing perspectives and experiences on syariah judicial matters of mutual interest. These discussions are expected to further strengthen the relations between Brunei and Malaysia and enhance the syariah judicial management of both countries.
The Malaysian delegation also visited the Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Sungai Akar yesterday. Welcoming the delegation were patrons of the mosque Dato Seri Setia Haji Ali bin Haji Apong and Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.
Among the objectives of yesterday’s visit were to strengthen the ties between Malaysia and Brunei as well as learning more about the mosque activities conducted such as Maghrib lectures, religious talks and Al-Quran reading classes.
