Charting a greener future

Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM), in collaboration with QAF Auto launched the country’s second Shell Recharge fast charging facility at the BMW showroom in Beribi yesterday.

Acting Director of Energy Transition of the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office Abdul Salam bin Haji Abdul Wahab and Acting Director of Land Transport Department of the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications Ridzuan bin Haji Ahmad were the guests of honour.

QAF Brunei Group Chief Executive Officer Albert Lau, BSM Managing Director Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil and QAF Auto General Manager Alisa Khoo were also in attendance.

The cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) charger, located in the Beribi industrial area, represents a significant stride towards a more eco-friendly and energy-efficient automotive landscape in the Sultanate.

Alisa Khoo said, “The strategic partnership between QAF Auto and Shell gives both companies the edge in a highly competitive market and reflects the shifting tides in the automotive and energy sectors. As EVs become more appealing to the masses, we anticipate a surge in collaborations and innovations that will redefine the boundaries of the EV ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Muhammad Norshafiee said, “BSM is pleased to partner with QAF Auto to provide support to BMW customers in their installation and charging needs.

“As the demand grows, BSM will continue to expand Shell Recharge at on-the-go, retail and destination sites across the nation.”

Following the cutting of ribbon, the guests of honour took a closer look at the Shell Recharge fast charging facility.

QAF Auto said, every purchase of a BMW EV from QAF Auto comes with: a complimentary BMW Wallbox home installation, eight years or 160,000 kilometres (km) of warranty for the high-voltage battery system and three years or 200,000km of BMW Extended Warranty with six years of BMW Service Inclusive without limitation on the mileage. – James Kon
