Charity drives for the underprivileged continue

Indian Association of Belait

Over 40 orphans and 30 single mothers received donations from the Indian Association of Belait (IAB) at its building yesterday.

YMRM Group of Companies Chairman and founder Ramesh Jiwatram Bhawnani, the guest of honour, was welcomed on arrival by the association’s president Salimo.

The event started with the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Dr Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Zakaria, followed by the presentation of green packets and clothing.

YMRM Group Managing Director Hitesh R Bhawnan expressed gratitude on behalf of the company for the association’s support and commitment in lending a helping hand to the single mothers and orphans

Meanwhile, the event also featured a talk delivered by Salimo on the importance of parental guidance in a family.

The Brunei Hotel; City Neon Brunei

Some 120 orphans and senior citizens in the Brunei-Muara District along with their guardians were treated to an iftar at The Brunei Hotel in the capital recently.

The event, jointly hosted by The Brunei Hotel and City Neon Brunei along with their business partners, aimed to spread blessings during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan was the guest of honour.

The Brunei Hotel general manager Andy Goh said; “We hope that through this initiative, we will be able to bring joy to everyone.”

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yassiin and Tahlil for the departed, followed by the guest of honour and City Neon Brunei managing director Dato Jack Ting presenting green packets. – Lyna Mohamad

Brunei Council on Social Welfare

The Council on Social Welfare (MKM) distributed nearly 50,000 iftar packs to 803 underprivileged individuals in the Sultanate and 1,100 individuals in Bangladesh daily.

The council handed over BND200, a bag of rice and iftar food to 38 Muslim convert families in Kampong Selapon, Temburong District, and 19 families in Kampong Penabai, Tutong District.

MKM president Mohamed Yusof bin Shaik Abdul Halim handed over the contributions.

Meanwhile, MKM vice president Hajah Johana binti Haji Jaya led the collaboration with Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) to distribute staple food to 100 families across the country.

MKM also held an ‘Iftar With Clients’ event at a hotel in the Temburong District, where MKM members joined a sungkai organised by a local restaurant.

Meanwhile, MKM’s former president Datin Paduka Hajah Intan binti Haji Mohd Kassim led a group of exco members to extend financial assistance to 100 families across the Sultanate. – Fadley Faisal

Kampong Pandan ‘A’ ; Yazid Mart

Orphans from Kampong Pandan ‘A’ received donations as part of a campaign organised by the village consultative council of Kampong Pandan ‘A’ and Yazid Mart recently.

Kampong Pandan ‘A’ village head Abdul Aziz bin Haji Seri was the guest of honour at the event held in front of Yazid Mart.

Yazid Mart owner Masudha Yassin Mustafa also attended. Volunteers also visited homes of donation recipients who were unable to attend to hand over donations. – Daniel Lim
