Engineering A triumphed as the champion of the 2024 Badminton Championship organised by Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB), following intense final matches held at the Youth Centre Sunday.
Guest of honour RTB Acting Deputy Director (Development) Md Zulkarnain bin Haji Brahim@Ahmad attended the event to present awards to the victorious teams and participants. This year’s championship, which began on November 1, brought together eight teams from RTB’s various divisions, including D3P (representing Policy & Planning, Marketing & Promotion, and Research & Development), Engineering A (Technical Services), Engineering B (Broadcasting & Channel Control), TV Programming A, TV Programming B, Radio Programming A, Radio Programming B, and the News & Current Affairs Division.
The tournament included several competitive categories: Men’s Doubles Open A, Men’s Doubles Open B, Veterans’ Doubles (45 years and above), Women’s Doubles Open, and Mixed Doubles. Four teams advanced to the finals, with Engineering A emerging as the overall champion, followed by the News & Current Affairs Division as the runner-up and TV Programming A in third place.
The champion, Engineering A, was awarded the Challenge Trophy, a Companion Trophy, medals, and certificates, while the News & Current Affairs Division received a Companion Trophy, medals, and certificates as the runner-up. TV Programming A also took home a Companion Trophy, medals, and certificates for placing third.
Beyond the competition, the championship aimed to encourage RTB’s officers and staff to stay active in sports, promoting teamwork and a sense of community within the organisation. – FADLEY FAISAL
