The second certificate presentation ceremony for top 5-10 marked the conclusion of Brunei Food Awards (BFA) 2021 judging activities.
According to BFA, 225 restaurants and eateries participated in the BFA 2021 with 27 categories for the Top 5 Dishes, and six for the Top 10.
Eighty dishes were awarded top 10 while 63 were awarded top five.
The ceremony was held from February 15-17. Among the most awarded recipients were Borneo Kopitiam, I-Lotus Restaurant, and Nas Eatery. Borneo Kopitiam received the most number of awarded dishes in 2021 with 13 awards comprising six for Best Dish and seven for Top 5 and Top 10. I–Lotus restaurant and Nas Eatery both received three awards.
Prior to the ceremony, BFA organised another presentation of certificates to 46 restaurants for Best Dish.
The event was held at Soto Pabo on January 26, 2021 attended by guest of honour, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong.
Despite the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, BFA continued to achieve milestones in 2021, including making the largest tumpi (one–metre) recognised by the Brunei Food of Records.
BFA has also introduced a new benchmark for achievements by individuals in the Brunei food and beverage industry (F&B) with the ‘Outstanding Person Achievement Award’ (this year awarded to Thanis Lim).
BFA is committed in its mission to promote and invigorate the growth of the Brunei F&B industry.
With 336 restaurants participating in 2020, and 225 participating in 2021, BFA aims to hit another record number of participating restaurants of 500 for 2022.
BFA also announced the progress on several projects including BFA Book, Bali app and more.
The Brunei Food Awards 2022 registration is set to open after Ramadhan.
