Celebrating final week of Hari Raya Aidilfitri

New converts residing in the Belait District yesterday celebrated Hari Raya Aidilfitri for the first time since they embraced the Islamic faith during Ramah Mesra Hari Raya Aidilfitri event, organised by the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) through the Belait District Da’wah Office in collaboration with the Sinar Islam Association (PSI) at the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar’ Ali Saifuddien (PSB SOAS) Religious School.

Acting Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, was the guest of honour.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Director of PDI Haji Abdul Majid bin Haji Mohd Salleh and President of PSI Abdul’ Alim bin Abdullah Igol as well as senior officers and staff from PDI and Belait District Da’wah Office were also present.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Sayyidul Istighfar by Haji Mohd Saiffulah bin Abdul Rahman. “We are very fortunate and blessed to be able to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as the pandemic had put a pause on festivities for three years,” said Abdul Alim in his opening remarks.

He also said since the start of the endemic phase, the association has been busy conducting activities such as Tedarus Al-Quran, as part of its continued effort to guide those who are new to the religion.

“We are also in discussion with other groups, agencies, and associations to organise more activities in the future,” he said.

He also expressed his gratitude for the support including the PSI in organising Tedarus and Sunnat Tarawih prayers and PDI for conducting the Fathul Barakah 4.0 project during Ramadhan to help the newly converts living in rural Belait.

Management, vendors, and customers of Sumbangsih Mulia yesterday held a Raya open house at the popular food outlet in the Beribi Light Industrial area.

Among the attendees was Chairman of Sumbangsih Mulia Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin.

The event started with a Doa Selamat read by Muaz Azizi bin Haji Shamsir.

The Hari Raya celebration aimed to foster ties between vendors and customers during the festive season.

The vendors also expressed their special thanks to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for providing a place for them to conduct their business comfortably.

Sumbangsih Mulia was built with a contribution from Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin in 2007 to assist small and medium enterprises by providing them with a platform to run their businesses.
