Celebrating 62 years of RBAF

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony at all Ministry of Defence and RBAF suraus and Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque to mark RBAF’s 62nd anniversary yesterday.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office accompanied by His Royal Highness 920 Major (U) Prince ‘Abdul Mateen attended the event at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah was greeted upon arrival by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-An’am, verses 81 to 83 by Private Muhammad Zainul Arifin bin Haji Haminuddin from the Second Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), who represented RBAF at the 9th International Al-Quran Memorisation Competition for Islamic Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia last year.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah then joined a mass Maghrib prayer led by Surau Ad-Difa’s Imam Mohammad Khairol Azmi bin Haji Salleh. It continued with a Sunnat Hajat prayer and the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil.

It was followed by a Doa Kesyukuran recited by Director of RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT) Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, RBN. It continued with a mass Isyak prayer led by Imam Mohammad Khairol Azmi.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah proceeded to Bolkiah Garrison’s Officer’s Mess for a banquet prior to the conclusion of the event. May 31, 1931 saw the establishment of RBAF, formerly known as the Brunei Malay Regiment.
