The distribution of care packages to COVID-19 positive individuals in the public sector will be carried out through their employing agencies, with effect yesterday.

Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar announced this at the press conference, noting that “this is one way to expedite the distribution of care packages as a whole”.

He was responding to suggestion that the public be allowed to pick up the care packages from health centres, noting that “these packages cannot be picked up at any given time”.

The distribution will continue as usual with the government-hired services of Dart, Comquest and the support of post offices, the minister said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong shared that food ration distribution efforts have been ramped up, with management and coordination tasks assigned to penghulus and village heads. “They have undertaken these tasks of late, even going to the lengths of distributing the food rations to rural areas themselves,” he said.
