Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) officials nabbed six foreign workers for several offences during an operation in the Brunei-Muara District.
The Labour Department jointly organised ‘Operasi Sakat 132/2023’ targeting car workshops in Mukim Pengkalan Batu and Mukim Kilanas.
Seven foreigners at car workshops in Mukim Pengkalan Batu were questioned with one being ordered to report to the Law Enforcement Division of the INRD for not working under the actual employer.
Another was questioned for not adhering to the position listed in the work pass.
One had committed an offence under Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17 and another under Immigration Regulations 15(3). The two if found guilty can be imprisoned for not more than six months or fined not more than BND2,000 or both.
Meanwhile, eight foreigners were questioned during an inspection at Mukim Kilanas. Two were ordered to report to the Law Enforcement Division for not following the position mentioned in their work pass, while another two on social visit passes, were instructed to report to the Law Enforcement Division.
The INRD reminded employers and guarantors to ensure that the workers are employed according to the position stated in their work pass. – Azlan Othman
