A local man was sentenced to four years and eight months’ jail after pleading guilty to a number of charges related to auto theft.
Abdul Muezz bin Haji Wahab, 30, was sentenced by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for six counts of auto theft, three counts of switching number plates of stolen vehicles and one count of receiving stolen property.
The defendant stole cars from commercial area parking spots in Kiulap, Beribi, Kuala Belait and Pekan Tutong in July, August and September 2021 and in January this year, according to prosecutor Aeny Zullizam.
Magistrate Nur Sariy Syahmina binti Haji Jaffri handed down the sentence, with consideration to the defendant’s previous criminal convictions. – Fadley Faisal
