Camp builds character beyond classroom

The Ministry of Education (MoE), through the Counselling Division and in collaboration with the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre, Unit Kesejahteraan Pemimpin Sekolah dan Tenaga Pengajar (UKPSTP), the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BRC) and the Brunei Youth Council (MBB) held the opening ceremony of the ‘Sedetik Sejuta Perjalanan’ Motivational Camp at the Sports Village in Kampong Pulaie yesterday.

Some 120 Year 7 students from 32 schools, who excelled in the Primary School Assessment (PSR) in 2023, participated in the three-day-two-night camp.

The camp is a platform to provide exposure and experience to students outside the classroom, increasing the spirit of identity and unity Director of Department of Schools at the MoE Hajah Marina Chek binti Bujang, guest of honour, inaugurated the ceremony.

Head of the Counselling Division Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor, as event chairperson, said the camp will nurture the spirit of teamwork, discipline, confidence and national identity in line with the national education philosophy. – Azlan Othman
