Camp boosts youth’s participation in community development

Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah organised a three-day-two-night youth camp dubbed ‘Kem Belia Harapan 3.0: Ilal Hijrah: Di Sini Aku Bermula’ to improve the involvement and participation of youth in community development which began yesterday.

The programme is managed by Syababul Iman youth group from Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Sengkurong in collaboration with several youth groups across the country. The youth groups are Syababurroja youth group from Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah; Ash-Shaliheen Mosque; Syababul Salaam youth group from Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque; Ashabul Haliim youth group from Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Malik Mosque in Kampong Tungku Katok; Ashabul Akhyar youth group from Kampong Lumapas Mosque; ‘Ibadurrahmaan youth group from Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Pekan Tutong; and youth group from RPN Kampong Pandan, Belait District.

Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, the Acting Managing Director of Yayasan, was the guest of honour.

Imam of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Haji Mohd Zaidin bin Haji Mohd Noor was also present.

The programme began with the recitation of verses of Al-Quran by Mohammad Zahin bin Norsidi, translated by Ahmad Aqil Azri bin Muhammad Azli and a speech by Co-chairman of the youth camp Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin.

Participants also recited a pledge led by camp participant Muhammad Qarl Darwisy Haqieze bin Wadi.

A total of 71 participants – 39 males and 32 females – aged between 16 and 23 from Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait districts joined the programme.
