The Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF)commemorated its 56th anniversary at Punai Hall, RBAirF Base in Rimba yesterday.

Commander of RBAirF Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim led the ceremony.

The commander in a speech highlighted that this year’s anniversary employed a unique concept aligned with the completion of Exercise Alap-Alap IX/2022. He acknowledged the wide variety of challenges faced by the nation due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed on the importance for RBAirF to remain flexible, adaptable and professional in support of national requirements.

Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif mentioned recent capability developments within the RBAirF including 39 Squadron’s Unmanned Aerial System launched by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to enhance aerial surveillance and situational awareness.

The commander also acknowledged the induction of the Minigun M134D Aerial Gunnery System which will augment the firepower for air-to-ground defence.

He added that efforts to enhance air capability requires skilled personnel, who consistently remain committed and aligned with the RBAirF’s core values of ‘Service Above Self, Teamwork and Excellence’.

Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif then launched the RBAirF’s official Instagram account in conjunction with its anniversary this year.

The event continued with a cake cutting ceremony and concluded with a recitation of Doa Selamat by RBAirF Religious Officer Pengiran Fakhrul Syakirin bin Pengiran Haji Zainuddin.
