Post-pandemic Brunei has seen the return of tourists, especially in the capital, which is a good thing. However, it’s disheartening to see them walking under the scorching sun and jay walking across busy roads.
Bus routes need to be reviewed to not only target tourists but also high-density areas such as shop lots, hospitals, hotels, schools and government buildings to encourage a higher dependence on public transportation, thus reducing traffic congestion.
The current bus stops are also in need of major sprucing up and the addition of an information board and new benches.
Public transportation is crucial in driving the country towards the goals of Brunei Vision 2035.
It is high time that professional consultants be brought in to help the country design an efficient public transport network.
