Call for universal maternity leave length

I would like to highlight the discrepancies between local and foreign employers in terms of the length of maternity leave.

I was recently made aware that locals are given 15 weeks of maternity leave, while their foreign counterparts receive only nine weeks in total.

There may be a reason for the difference but as a local, I believe everyone in the country should be treated the same, especially new mothers. Ultimately, the leave is there to make sure these women return to the workforce energised and ready to contribute.

Without the sufficient time with their offspring, it might lead to long-term mental health complications.
