I would like to call on the authorities to consider sending health inspectors to monitor the quality of food at Ramadhan stalls.
Since the start of the fasting month, the public has been flocking to these stalls to hunt for local favourites and enjoy the annual festive atmosphere. However, when it comes to be the quality of food items on offer, there are some vendors with very questionable practices.
Recently, I bought an aubergine dish from a stall because it is a family favourite. Before sharing with my children, I decided to sample it first, which was a stroke of good luck because the sauce had covered the foul smell and masked the sourness of the food.
While adults are often able to tell if a food item has gone bad, it is simply not the case for children. As such, there are many cases of food poisoning among kids that could have been avoided had there been regular inspection on these food stalls.
