    Call for innovation in hydrocarbon industry

    As a nation, securing reliable, competitive and sustainable energy supply is essential – not only in safeguarding long-term prosperity but also in building a resilient and thriving economy, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof said.

    He said this officiating the Brunei Petroleum Technology Exhibition and Conference (PTEC) 2025, which began at the International Convention Centre, Berakas yesterday.

    Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi stressed that innovation and digitalisation are critical in improving operational efficiency, reducing environmental impact and maintaining industry competitiveness.

    He also announced the launch of the Shallow Water Licensing Round, inviting industry players to explore new opportunities in Brunei’s hydrocarbon sector.

    In his welcoming address, Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam (PABD) Managing Director and Brunei PTEC 2025 Organising Committee Chairman Shamir Salahudin, highlighted the importance of embracing technological advancements amid increasing industry complexities.

    The event features panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking sessions, showcasing the latest innovations from local and international industry players.

    The four-day event, held from yesterday to February 13, is hosted by PABD in collaboration with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Brunei Section, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). Themed ‘Innovation for Efficiency and Sustainability in the Hydrocarbon Industry,’ the conference aims to strengthen industry collaboration and highlight the role of technology in enhancing efficiency, sustainability and long-term growth. Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Hanifah, Deputy Minister (Security and Law) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Legislative Council members, ambassadors, high commissioners, senior government officials and industry leaders were present. – Fadley Faisal
