Call for guidelines on AI to shape smart nation

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and other higher learning institutions are urged to pave ways to make full use of artificial intelligence (AI) by providing guidelines in order to take advantage of the efficiency and productivity that can be gained from human intelligence and AI.

This was stated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Chancellor of UBD in a titah during the 35th UBD Convocation Ceremony on Monday.

His Majesty said the guidelines will make it possible to expect transparency, integrity and ethical use of AI.

It will also help strengthen the administration and framework on efforts of national digital transformation towards bringing the country as a smart nation.

In congratulating the graduates, His Majesty underscored the importance of being ready for challenges in a rapidly changing world.
