Call for collaborative environment for men, women

Urgent practical steps and action should be taken for a more collaborative environment for both men and women, said Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Harri Kiiski.

He also shared that half of BFI’s leadership is championed by local Bruneians holding significant leadership roles, of which half are women.

Around 130-150 government officials, representatives, corporate executives and leaders, business founders and students attended the forum to mark International Women’s Day, hosted by BFI as part of the company’s 10th anniversary celebration.

The inaugural International Women’s Day Forum, representing various industries and institutions was held at The Rizqun International Hotel and themed ‘Investing in Women: Accelerating Progress‘.

Ambassador of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R Tirol-Ignacio, Dr Harri Kiiski, Jab Gym General Manager Marilyn Yap and Radisson Hotel General Manager Miriam Wolber made up the forum panel, moderated by Kristal Media General Manager Jenny Malai Ali.

The event saw invited speakers share insights and strategies to pave the way to a more prosperous future for women, networking and mentoring session, and a workshop on women’s economic empowerment and women’s rights by founder and Executive Director of Project Women Brunei Nur Judy binti Abdullah.

The dialogue featured co-founder of Woke Investing Eden Hung, co-founder of Oddbox Media and Communications Maria Zaharaa binti Abdullah, co-founder of Rumine Corporation Sheila Ziziumiza, moderated by Brunei Programmes Coordinator for Asia Inc Forum Pengiran Hanna Pengiran Hassanal.

Meanwhile, BFI Acting Deputy CEO Hajah Nur Raihan binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Rosli in her closing remarks said, “Investing in women isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do.” – Lyna Mohamad
