Call for better yellow lines to slow down traffic

I am writing in regards to the yellow lines along the coastal highway between Muara and Belait.

For those who commute between the two districts, it is a common knowledge that the yellow lines are found in continuous stretches right before a U-turn in the road; and these appear in multiple areas along the highway.

The yellow lines are presented in multiples of three, where it starts off with normal marked lines, then goes through the second span with closer lines and then the third, closer still.

Understandably, the authorities have intended for these lines to slow down cars to allow motorists making U-turns to be able to do so safely. However, anyone who frequently uses the highway can attest to these markings doing very little to slow down speed-loving drivers.

Moreover, these lines have been painted in such a way that cars vibrate rather violently even at a low speed. To make matter worse, some of these lines have been painted over potholes, making it hard for drivers to notice them.

Are they really effective in reducing the number of accidents on the highway? Do they meet the goals? Have the lines been made by following closely best practices? Has the welfare of road users been considered when installing these yellow lines?

I hope the authorities would consider improving these lines to limit the wear and tear sustained by frequent highway users.
