Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the 17th Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2022 and National Security (NATSEC) Asia, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) being held until tomorrow.
High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud bin Haji Saidin @ Haji Md Saidin, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan as well as senior officers from the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF also attended.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Senior Defence Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein and Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Hamzah
bin Zainudin.
The DSA 2022 exhibition had participation from over 1,500 companies and 60 countries showcasing the latest updates on defence industry development, bringing the world’s most advanced technologies, systems, and services in various defence and security fields.
At the sidelines of the first day of the exhibition, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi had a bilateral meeting with Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin, where both sides underscored the strong defence relationship and also discussed various strategic issues of mutual interest including the current global security situation.
In addition, the Minister of Defence II also had a bilateral meeting with Secretary of National Defence of the Philippines Delfin N Lorenzana as well as Minister of Defence of Indonesia Lieutenant General TNI (Purnama) Prabowo Subianto.
The DSA 2022 is an international defence exhibition hosted by the Malaysian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs, and organised by DSA Exhibition and Conferences Sdn Bhd, with support from the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police and the Malaysian Defence Industry Council (MDIC). MinDef and RBAF’s attendances at the exhibition provides an ideal platform for industry engagement in defence technologies and systems, vital for the realisation of capability development within MinDef and RBAF.
