PUL-E-KHUMRI (XINHUA) – A road accident in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province left five dead and injured 11 others yesterday, the provincial police office said in a statement.

The fatal accident took place after two passenger buses collided in the vicinity of Pul-e-Khumri city, the provincial capital of Baghlan. One of the buses deviated from the road and rammed into a residential house, leaving five dead, including four members of the same family, and injuring 11 commuters, the statement added.

On Friday, four commuters lost their lives and 14 others were injured in a traffic incident in the western Herat province.

Road accidents in Afghanistan are usually caused by poor road conditions, reckless driving and speeding.
