The Brunei History Centre through the Borneo Studies Centre in collaboration with the Brunei History Association (PESEBAR), held the 5th Menyuluh Sejarah Brunei Programme at the Borneo Research Centre (penBorneo) in Kampong Anggerek Desa.
Senior Special Duties Officer of the Secretariat of the Malay Islamic Monarchy Supreme Council Dr Haji Ramlee bin Haji Tinkong was the guest of honour.
Themed Melayu Islam Beraja Benteng Pertahanan dan Kestabilan Negara (Malay Islamic Monarchy: Fortification of Defence and National Stability), the programme showcases the abilities and skills of the younger generation in producing and sharing well-researched historical studies in a scholarly manner.
The programme aims to introduce comprehensive, in-depth and previously unexplored historical research.
The first of two presenters Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali student Awangku Muhammad Ridhauddin bin Pengiran Mohd Amin presented his research on Melayu Islam Beraja: Taming Keramat Brunei Darussalam (Malay Islamic Monarchy: Taming the Sacredness of Brunei Darussalam).
The second presenter, Brunei History Centre Preservation Officer Muhammad Ataillah bin Haji Julaihi, talked about his research on Sistem Pertahanan Brunei Abad Ke-19 (Brunei’s 19th-Century Defence System).
The event highlighted the importance of learning from history to raise a strong and patriotic generation.
The event concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates to the presenters and the moderator by Dr Haji Ramlee bin Haji Tinkong. – Adib Noor
