ANN/THE KOREA HERALD – Next month, RM, Jimin, Jungkook, and V, integral members of the globally acclaimed K-pop phenomenon BTS, are set to commence their mandatory military service, marking the completion of the group’s national defense obligations.
This follows the earlier enlistment of Jin in December of the previous year, J-Hope in April, and Suga in September 2023.
Currently, Jin and J-Hope are serving as assistant instructors at a military recruit training centre, while Suga is fulfilling his compulsory service through an alternative route.
With military duty mandatory for all able-bodied men in South Korea aged 18 to 28, industry sources reveal that RM and V will enlist on December 11, with Jimin and Jungkook following on December 12.
Although the exact dates remain undisclosed by the group’s agency, Big Hit Music, it was confirmed on November 22 that the four remaining artists had taken steps to fulfil their national service obligations.
All four members are expected to complete their required service by July 2025, aligning with the group’s promise to fans for a full unit return that year. The impending enlistment raises anticipation for BTS’s return to activities in 2025.
“We are confident that we will come back better than ever. We hope you stay healthy and happy until then,” Jungkook had said in a pre-recorded video played when the group received the top honour at the 2023 MAMA Awards on Tuesday.
