The Brunei Darussalam contingent, comprising five wushu athletes, left for Hangzhou, China yesterday to take part in the 19th Asian Games which begins tomorrow until October 8.
The nine-member delegation, is led by Youth and Sports Director Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim in her capacity as the chef de mission, also includes a the athletes’ coach, communications officer and a physiotherapist.
Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud sent the delegation off and provided words of advice at the Brunei International Airport in Berakas yesterday.
In this year’s edition, Brunei Darussalam will compete in weightlifting, karate and wushu. – Fadhil Yunus
