Brunei’s forests in good hands

Rokiah Mahmud

The Forestry Department has undertaken a forest inventory project to evaluate the value of the forest, particularly the richness of its biodiversity.

This was said by Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin at the 19th Legislative Council (LegCo) session yesterday.

This was in response to LegCo member Yang Berhormat Dr Haji Mahali bin Haji Momin’s query on the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism’s efforts to preserve the Sultanate’s forests. The minister also said the Forestry Department and forest rangers patrol the jungle to address illegal logging activities and kayu gaharu or agarwood thefts.
