The Brunei Young leaders Convention (BYLC) will return on December 10, BYLC chairman Iswandy bin Ahmad said during a press conference at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) on Saturday.
The two-day convention, taking place at UTB, is the fourth iteration of the platform to gather and unite youth as well as stakeholders from the government, private sector and the community, said the chairman.
Registration for the convention began on Saturday and is opened until November 30. It is open to all youth aged 15-35 and youth leaders no older than 45.
The convention looks to deliver accurate and updated information regarding the Brunei Vision 2035, and be a platform for youth to carry out effective and sustainable programmes for the national vision, he said.
The motto for BYLC 2022 is ‘Believe, Empower, Lead, Inspire and Act’ or BELIA, said the chairman.
‘Believe’ means believing in the ability of young people to play a role in nation building to achieve the Brunei Vision 2035.
‘Empower’ means supporting the youth in growing leadership skills by providing guidance and constructive advice.
‘Lead’ is a trait that must exist in every youth for them to be able to lead and make positive changes, while ‘Inspire’ is the support given by existing youth leaders to the younger generation, assisting them with experience and encouragement.
‘Act is intended for the youth to take action in starting programmes and projects that correlates with the Brunei Vision 2035.
Participants will have the opportunity to get detailed information regarding Brunei Vision 2035, attend forums, mentor clinics, and interact with mentors and panellists.
