Brunei’s wushu athlete Lim Wan Xin finished at 12th place in the girls’ Group B – Changquan at the 8th World Junior Wushu Championship in Indonesia yesterday.
Lim Wan Xin scored 8.603 in his wushu routine. National wushu coach said, “I am pleased with Lim Wan Xin’s performance. Her talent can be further developed and she does not feel much pressure while competing.”
“She was able to finish within top 12 position in the world stage competition is an achievement.”
He added that the championship was supposed to take place in 2020 and was forced to postpone due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is the first time that Brunei is competing in an international competition. This year’s competition attracted more participants than the previous edition. Sixty-three countries with around 700 athletes are competing,” he said.
He hoped that by participating in the competition, young wushu athletes can gain experience and be prepared for future competitions.
