The Norwegian Jewel cruise ship originating from Thailand called at the Muara Port yesterday bringing 2,403 passengers and 1,035 crew members.
This was the ship’s second visit following its maiden call on November 6, underlining Brunei Darussalam’s growing significance in the cruise tourism circuit.
The tourists toured the Sultanate’s landmarks including the Royal Regalia Museum, Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Istana Nurul Iman.
They also sampled the local cuisine.
Jam Villensteen from Denmark said he found the locals are warm and friendly while Angel Cabrera from the United States (US) praised the beauty of traditional attire. Susan Paras from the US meanwhile expressed an interest in the history of local oil and gas industry.
The Sultanate will welcome Norwegian Jewel again on December 4, which will be the last cruise ship arrival this year. – Adib Noor
