Brunei Darussalam’s weightlifters Mohammad Nashrul bin Haji Abu Bakar and Liyana Sidek broke the national and their personal best records at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship 2024 in Suva, Fiji.
Mohammad Nashrul lifted a combined 233 kilogrammes (kg) in the men under-61kg to break the national and his personal best.
He lifted 103kg in the snatch event, setting a new national record, and lifted 130kg in the clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, in the women under-55kg Liyana set a new national and best personal record after lifting a combined 131kg. She broke national record after lifting 58kg in the snatch event, and lifted 73kg in the clean and jerk. – JAMES KON
