The Brunei-Vietnam Friendship Concert, held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) Pro Chancellor Arts Centre, celebrated the growing friendship between Brunei and Vietnam through cultural exchange.
Organised by UBD and the Vietnam Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, the event showcased performances by UBD students as well as Bruneian and Vietnamese artistes, including silat, gulingtangan music and Joget Seri Kenangan.
UBD Vice Chancellor Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle emphasised the importance of global education, highlighting language proficiency and cultural awareness for success in a multicultural world.
He also acknowledged the success of UBD’s Vietnamese language programme, which has grown significantly since its launch in 2022 and fosters a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture.
The university has also hosted visits from Vietnamese dignitaries, further strengthening educationalties. Vietnam Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Tran Anh Vu praised the collaboration between UBD and Vietnamese partners in promoting educational and cultural exchange, particularly the success of the Vietnamese language programme. He highlighted Vietnam’s development and its strengthened relationship with Brunei, including increased bilateral trade. The event also saw a presentation of donation to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam by Director of Hai Duong Petroleum and Marine Corporation Overseas Vu Viet Toan.
