The second cohort of the Brunei Darussalam National Under-23 team left for Phnom Penh, Cambodia to take part in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-23 Championship to be held from February 14 to 26.

Team Manager Haji Adee Suhardee bin Haji Muhidin led the delegation. The team began training virtually in August 2021 amid the second COVID-19 outbreak in the Sultanate, before extending to field training with strict adherence to standard operating procedure (SOP) starting earlier this year.

The official 26-member squad, announced on Monday, saw the inclusion of players who featured in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA) in Manila, Philippines in December 2019.

The first cohort of the National Under-23 team headed for Cambodia on Sunday. It includes assistant team manager Ah Chua Bangau, head coach Aminuddin Jumat and players Haziq Hazwan Wahid and Md Alin Syahmi Hossaini.

The Young Wasps will begin their campaign against hosts Cambodia on February 14 at the Morodok Techo National Stadium.
