Brunei Darussalam’s under-19 football team received a sickening 6-0 loss at the hands of Thailand during the ASEAN Under-19 Boys’ Championship at the Gelora 10 November Stadium in Surabaya, Indonesia Monday.
The War Elephants opened the scoring through defender Pakawat Taengoakson in the eighth minute before midfielder Paripan Wongsa doubled the lead in the 27th minute. Tanadon Ryan extended the lead in the 45th minute before Pikanet Laohawiwat made it 4-0 deep into stoppage time.
Nevertheless, damage was minimised with two more goals coming from forward Pitipong Wongbut in the 79th minute and Rattapoom Pankejon in the end of normal time.
The national under-19 team will conclude their campaign against Singapore on July 25. – FADHIL YUNUS
