Brunei Darussalam’s under-19 team left for Jakarta, Indonesia yester-day to take part in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-19 Boys Championship.
The premier tournament for the under-19 national age group in the region will be held from July 2 to 15.
Team Manager Mohd Nazib bin Haji Ali led the delegation. He will be assisted by Assistant Team Manager Bujang Haji Japar.
Also in the delegation is Head Coach Faisalani Ghani.
The head coach feels confid-ent that his charges will be put a good showing against their regional counterparts.
“The target is to be competitive. We are going for at least a point if not the full points in all matches in the group,” Faisalani was quoted as saying in the AFF website.
Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Deputy President Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin; FABD General Secretary Mohammad Shahnon bin Haji Mohd Salleh; as well as FABD Executive Committee members sent them off at the Brunei International Airport.
The Young Wasps had been drawn in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Haji Faisalani’s young charges will begin their campaign against Myanmar on July 2 at the Madya Senayan Stadium.
