Brunei Travel Fair set to return end of the month

Avid travellers will have good bargains to look forward to for their holiday retreats as the popular Brunei Travel Fair is set to return on September 30.

Sabre Travel Network (Brunei) Sdn Bhd is conducting the 18th edition of the two-day Brunei Travel Fair at OneCity Shopping Centre, Sungai Hanching.

“Sabre Travel Network (Brunei) is proud to organise the Brunei Travel Fair, an important event for the country, benefitting Bruneians, the expat community, our partners and travel industry at large,” said General Manager Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman during a press conference at Hua Ho Manggis Mall yesterday.

The event is open to all travellers and provides the convenience of shopping for a wide range of deals under one roof, with airlines, banks, national tourist offices, hotels, insurance services, telecommunications, medical centre and travel agents present to promote their products and services.

Sabre Travel Network Marketing Manager Haji Mohd Shamiruddin bin Haji Sharbini said that the fair is an excellent opportunity for Brunei-based travellers to shop for overseas and domestic travel packages.

Sabre is providing 60 workstations to the 11 Sabre-connected travel agencies participating.

“We are excited to welcome the following participating travel agents: As Safa Travel and Tours; Anthony Tours and Travel Agency; At-Taqwa Travel Tours; Dar El Ehsan Travel; Darussalam Services; Freme Travel Services; Halim Tours and Travel; J J Tour Service; Pan Bright Travel Service; Southern Cross Travel Agencies; and Straits Central Agencies (SCA).”

Director of Tourism Malaysia Brunei Hazrina binti Azman said that Tourism Malaysia in Brunei has been supporting Brunei Travel Fair from the beginning and is participating again in the upcoming edition.

“We have six exhibitors coming in from Sabah and Sarawak and also from Tourism Melaka.

“Melaka is going to have the ‘Visit Melaka’ campaign next year so they are coming in to showcase some offers.

“At the same time we also have Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council bringing in the Sabah Fertility Centre,” she said.

Every purchase at the booth gets shopping vouchers, said the director, and they are also collaborating with partners including their special packages, in collaboration with SCA and Baiduri, in the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Swipe and Win packages.

“Another attractive offer is Miss SHOPhia Shopping package, which is happening in Penang. This is a very niche package for those who are actually treasure hunters.”

National carrier Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) will also be offering the best deals for North Asia destinations as well as the pre-COVID-19 travel fare and promoting the recently-launched Family Plus Programme, said RB Regional Manager Borneo Lim Guat Wen.

National tourism organisations participating in the travel fair include Brunei Tourism Board, Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Sabah Tourism Board, Sarawak Tourism Board, Taiwan Tourism Administration Kuala Lumpur Office and Tourism Authority of Thailand.

RB, Baiduri Bank Berhad, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, imagine Sdn Bhd, KPJ Miri Specialist Hospital, Progresif Sdn Bhd and Standard Chartered Bank are also participating with their own booths while Insurance services will be represented by Insurans Islam TAIB and Takaful Brunei Am. – Lyna Mohamad
