Brunei Darussalam is set to host the 48th Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) for the Religious Ministers of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS) scheduled to take place over two days on November 5 and 6, 2024.

Before the official meetings, a welcoming dinner was held Monday evening to greet the delegation members from MABIMS member countries. Hosted by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, who also serves as the head of Brunei’s SOM delegation, the event took place at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall 4, The Empire Brunei in Jerudong.

The dinner was attended by directors and senior officials from Brunei’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, along with representatives from each MABIMS member country.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar, Surah Al-Fatihah, and a prayer led by Mosque Affairs Officer and Imam of Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque Haji Mohd Zaidin bin Haji Mohd Noor.

In his welcoming speech, Haji Mohammad Rosli extended a warm greeting to the delegations from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. He expressed his hope that the meetings would further strengthen the MABIMS Strategic Plan through the implementation of various pre-established agendas.

Reflecting on last year’s successful 47th SOM and the 20th MABIMS meeting hosted by Singapore, he conveyed his appreciation to Singapore for its successful organisation, which reinforced collaborative efforts aimed at advancing the region’s ummah development goals.

“This year, Brunei is honoured to host the 48th SOM of MABIMS. With humility, we look forward to strengthening our cooperation and advancing the MABIMS Strategic Plan through our shared agenda,” he added.
