Teams representing the Sultanate at the Miss SHOPhia Shopping Hunt 5.0 in Malaysia were among the top winners taking up second and third spots in the hunt.
“Team Brunei”, made up of content creators, participated in the media category while a team of mothers and sons competed in the international category.
The teams were flagged off from The Top Penang by Deputy Director General of Promotion of Tourism Malaysia Datuk Musa Haji Yusof, senior officials Tourism Malaysia (TM) and strategic partners.
Prizes were awarded at the closing ceremony where Miss SHOPhia Go Travel 2023 was also launched by Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy Wong Hon Wai and TM Deputy Director General Datuk Musa at Gurney Paragon Mall.
Miss SHOPhia Shopping Hunt 5.0 is an event organised by TM in collaboration with Penang Global Tourism as strategic partner, and venue sponsors from Penang Development Corporation, The Top Penang, and Gurney Paragon Mall, as well as Malaysia Airlines Berhad and Firefly as airline partners.
Local and international teams had the opportunity to discover Penang’s hidden treasures, and conquer challenges while snapping photos and sharing their experiences.
The shopping hunt serves as a platform to boost awareness on Penang and Miss SHOPhia.
This year, participants are encouraged to embrace sustainable travel options, such as public transportation and the convenience of e-hailing services, to access shopping havens, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization heritage sites and restaurants.
The content creators were invited by Tourism Malaysia Brunei, while the team in the international category had their package coordinated by Straits Central Agencies (B) Sdn Bhd. – Lyna Mohamad
