Brunei Darussalam representatives to the ASEAN Cyber-Kids Camp 2024 hosted in Hanoi, Vietnam received the bronze awards.
The competition, organised by Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications, was held from August 8 to 9.
Representing Brunei were four students from Rimba III Primary School in two teams: Dayangku Nur Wadya Sorfena binti Pengiran Wira Satria, Noor ‘Afiah Nabilah binti Ahmad ‘Afif, Mohammad Daniyal Al-Baihaqi bin Haji Roslan and Dasuki bin Mohamad Hashnalhakhim.
They were accompanied by their tutors Hajah Kartika binti Haji Othman and Awangku Khairi Waddin bin Pengiran Tajuddin.
Themed ‘Educational Games or Interactive Stories to Foster Students to Become Scientists’, participants were tasked to create a project using Scratch 3.0 software. Myanmar’s team bagged the gold award, while Malaysia and Vietnam’s teams were awarded silver. The remaining teams including Brunei’s two teams received bronze awards.
The ASEAN Cyber-Kids Camp, introduced in 2008 and initiated by Malaysia, aims to enhance the skills of students aged between seven and 12 in critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, creative use of infocommunication technology, and awareness of cross-cultural issues.
The camp is one of the initiatives under the ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN) supported by the ASEAN Digital Senior Officials Meeting (ADGSOM) in which Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam is actively involved.
