Brunei take team title in Sarawak golf tournament

Brunei Darussalam emerged winners in the team category of the Kadayan SeBorneo Golf Tournament after carding a score an overall gross score of 881 at the Sarawak Golf Club in Sarawak, Malaysia recently.

The local golfers also brought home the coveted Datuk Rosman Isli Challenge Cup for their efforts. The country also performed exceptionally individually with seasoned golfer Seruji bin Haji Setia claiming the individual gross title after posting a five-over-par 77.

The Bruneian veteran beat second placed Sarawak’s Mohamad Lokman Mustaffa by three strokes, with Brunei’s Omar Asmat completing the podium.

Brunei’s Dany Karim also made a notable finish with second place in the individual nett category after posting a score of 70.

Nearly 100 golfers – 30 of whom were Bruneians – from four Kedayan golf associations of Sabah, Brunei, Labuan and Sarawak took part in the event.

Sarawak’s Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development II Dr Ripin Lamat presented the prizes.

The tournament was organised by the Sarawak Golf Kedayan Association.
