The Bruneian representative featured in lane two of Heat 1 alongside Kazakhstan’s Yegor Popov, Romania’s Denis-Laurean Popescu, Benin’s Alexis Michel Roger Dodji Kpade and Lebanon’s Ahmad Safie.
Greece’s Apostolos Siskos emerged as the fastest swimmer to qualify after registering a time of 1:56.64s.
Netherlands’s Kai Van Westering came second with a time of 1:57.29 and South Africa’s Pieter Coetze in third with 1:57.90s.
