    Brunei student to showcase culinary skills at global contest in India

    Laksamana College of Business‘s (LCB) Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Arts student Nur Hayani Afifah binti Mohammad is representing Brunei at the Young Chef Olympiad (YCO) 2025 across six cities in India.

    Nur Hayani is accompanied by two mentors – Alif Zulfitri bin Haji Hassan and Norfadhilah binti Mohd Yahya.

    YCO, which began yesterday and continues until February 7, is a culinary Olympiad, bringing together young talents from over 50 countries, evaluated by a panel of 25 international judges.

    Brunei is in Group ‘A’, with the first round of competitions in Goa against participants from Armenia, Botswana, England, Ethiopia, India, Ireland, Kenya, Oman and the United States.

    Following the preliminary rounds, the qualifying participants will advance to Kolkata for the grand finale, competing in the Dr Suborno Bose Challenge and Plate Trophy Final, while the initial rounds of the competition will take place in Goa, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

    The top 10 participants will advance to the Grand Finale in Kolkata while others will compete for the Plate Trophy and the Dr Bose Culinary International Challenge.

    Organised by the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) and the International Hospitality Council (IHC) London, the global event aims to showcase young culinary talents, foster international collaboration and promote sustainability in the hospitality industry themed ‘2025 – Save the World!
