Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof led a delegation from the Ministry of Defence to the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2024 in Hanoi, which will be held until tomorrow.
Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Vietnam Pengiran Mohamed Saiful Bahri bin Pengiran Haji Mohamed Jofray was also in the delegation.
The expo marks its second edition, organised by the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam, and coincides with the 80th founding Anniversary of the Vietnam People’s army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People National Defence Festival. The expo aims to promote international defence cooperation, enhance bilateral relationships among nations and foster mutual trust.
Themed ‘Peace Friendship Cooperation for Mutual Development’, this year’s expo emphasises the advancement of defence technology cooperation, the diversity of procurement avenues, and technology transfer.
This year’s expo showcases 240 exhibitors from 48 countries with indoor booths and outdoor static displays spanning 25,000 square metres. More than 60 international delegations, including ministers, deputy ministers and leaders in defence and security are participating in the expo.
The event commenced with the opening ceremony officiated by Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The delegation toured the expo, followed by a luncheon hosted by Minister of National Defence of Vietnam General Phan Văn Giang and concluded with a joint courtesy call on the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam.
Yesterday, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi attended the festivities commemorating the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the All-People National Defence Festival held at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi.
