A signing ceremony for the Haj Management Agreement for Brunei Darussalam’s pilgrims for the 2025 season was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently.
Representing Brunei Darussalam was Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman. Minister of Haj and Umrah Dr Taufig Fauzan Ar Rabi’ah signed on behalf of Saudi Arabia.
The agreement covers fundamental aspects of haj management, with further deliberations to continue at the senior official level in subsequent discussions.
Earlier, a bilateral meeting between both nations was held at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jeddah to discuss arrangements for Brunei Darussalam’s pilgrims. Attending the meeting was Brunei’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Awang Haji Harun bin Haji Junid.
During the meeting, the Saudi Minister of Haj and Umrah highlighted efforts by the ministry and the Saudi government to enhance haj operations through an online system aimed at ensuring systematic and efficient management.
The Minister of Religious Affairs expressed gratitude and congratulations to Saudi Arabia for its outstanding management and services provided to Brunei pilgrims during last year’s haj season, hoping for continued excellence in the upcoming season.
The Minister of Religious Affairs’ visit to Saudi Arabia, which included the signing ceremony and bilateral meeting, was at the invitation of the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah. The visit also coincides with the 4th Edition of the Haj Conference and Exhibition held at the Superdome, Jeddah, from January 13 to 16. – Fadley Faisal
