Brunei, Sabah universities team up for Borneo expedition

The Student Association of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) through the Student Affairs Office collaborated with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in organising A ‘Borneo Expedition’ programme in the Sultanate.

The programme from May 28 to 30 saw the participation of 30 students and staff from UMS, and 25 from UNISSA. The UMS delegation toured the facilities at UNISSA’s Gadong Campus, as well as visited Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja, where the participants got to know about Brunei’s past as well as future plans for its oil and gas industry.

The team also travelled to the Kampong Ayer Cultural and Tourism Gallery, where they were shown an array of artistic works and participated in a clean-up campaign at Al-Syafi’i surau at UNISSA’s Gadong campus.

The programme concluded with a tree-planting event at the UNISSA’s Gadong Campus, as a symbol of friendship between the two universities. – Fadley Faisal
